Personality

Greve is untruthful and sneaky, double crossing others in order to achieve her goals. She makes decisions that paints her as callous and cold. She does not seem to have any genuine loyalty to anyone around her.

Background

Unlike Roemont and Faulkner, Greve has not done anything of note or importance to land her in the Verses. She has achieved power and prominence, regardless, and plans to legalise the Parish. She implies that in her youth she was similar to Faulkner in terms of passion.

She leads the Southern Council in opposition to Faulkner following Roemont's assassination.

Chapter 30: Something Dreadful Shall Arise	Greve questions Faulkner over the events at the Gulch with Roemont. She is unimpressed with Faulkner, seeing through his lies and manipulation. She plans to legalise the Parish.
Chapter 33: And Where Once Its Howling Forebears Walked	Greve plots Faulkner's assassination with Roemont. She subtly criticises them both.
Chapter 35: The Wise Man Knows The Taste Of Rot	Greve tells Faulkner about Roemont's plot, exposing him. Greve then announces Roemont's death as Faulkner's doing hours before it occurs.
Chapter 37: And Even The Kings In Their Bowers Of Steel	Greve speaks to Shrue about the legalisation of the Parish. She offers them the Gulch as a sacrifice. She lets Shrue believe that Mason and Roemont are still in control.
Chapter 38: Shall Wither In Ruin And Rust	Greve can be heard over a radio in the Gulch exposing Faulkner. She calls him a liar and encourages his followers to abandon him.
Chapter 43: One Last Song Of Revelations	The episode begins with another one of Greve's broadcasts about Faulkner. She arrives at the parade and speaks with Press Secretary Carson, who she mistakes for Adjudicator Shrue. When Carson begins to leave after hearing about what has happened to Shrue, she realises that Faulkner has set off the Wither Mark. She survives the fallout of the Wither Mark and, refusing to become a Saint for the Trawler-man, shoots herself.

Connections

• High Katabasian Roemont and Greve seem to plot everything together. She betrays him by telling Faulkner about the assassination plot, leading to Roemont's death. There appears to be some guarded animosity towards him from her.

• High Prophet Faulkner and Greve are rivals, splitting the Parish effectively in two. She leads the Southern Council. She makes her dislike of him incredibly well-known.

• Adjudicator Shrue and Greve work together to legalise the Parish. They share a drink over the phone.
